There will be a community meeting with the staff of the Office of the Police Monitor at St. Ignatius on Tuesday, January 15th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the main body of the church. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the community to the services of the City of Austin Office of the Police Monitor (OPM). The Monitor's Office is a place, independent of the Austin Police Department (APD), where people can register a complaint about a police officer. The OPM is the only one of its kind with a functioning office in Texas, and is one of more than 100 police oversight offices in the United States. Their services are free and open to everyone. Please make plans to come and hear about this informative program. Spanish-translation services will be provided. | ||

Protecting God's Children, a workshop on child sexual abuse, will be held on Saturday, January 19,2008 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. Edward's University, Main Bldg., in the Maloney Room. This workshop is part of the diocesan Ethics and Integrity in Ministry policies that were adopted in January 2002. Anyone-volunteers, paid staff or clergy-who serves minors or vulnerable adults in a parish, school or diocesan setting should attend one of these workshops. Please register ahead of time so that adequate material may be available by contacting 512-637-5674. Materials used in the workshop include testimonies from victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse. If you have any concerns regarding your attendance at the workshop, please contact Emily Hurlimann at (512) 697-2047 to arrange an alternative arrangement to receive your training. Such inquiries shall remain confidential. | ||

The St. Ignatius LifeTeen Youth Praise Band will be hosting a concert benefiting Mike Garza and his family. It will be on Saturday, January 26, in the Family Center. Doors open to the sounds of Grace Pettis at 6p.m., Dave Thies at 7p.m., raffle at 8p.m. and Praise and Worship from 8:30 - 10p.m. Tickets are a suggested donation price of $5 each, T-Shirts are $10 and the Fajita dinner plate is $5 at the door. ALL St. Ignatius Catholic School students along with their friends and family are cordially invited to join the Toros as they take on the Utah Flash. Have the kids high-five the players during the introductions down on the court. Free autographs after the game. Free interactive Kid's Zone. Support the St. Ignatius Pep Squad and Spirit Squad as they perform during half-time of the Toros game. The St. Ignatius, Martyr, Catholic School 8th Grade Class (class of 2008) will be holding Garage Sale to raise funds for graduation. They will also be selling delicious baked goods as well as other food items. Start: 6:00 pm

The Knights of Columbus Council 10131 will host their annual Casino Night on February 02, 2008. This fun event will take place at the Father Gene Dore Family center located on the grounds of St. Ignatius Martyr Parish. Funds raised will help council 10131 support their community, schools, seminarians, ministries through out the Diocese of Austin and St. Ignatius Martyr Parish. Come to enjoy an evening of Games, Food, Drinks, Raffles every hour, and a chance at the Grand Prize Drawing of a Trip for Two to Las Vegas, Nevada. Games will include Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and Poker. There will be hourly Raffles conducted. Your Ticket is your Drawing entry for the Grand Prize. Need not be present to win. There will be Food available at 6:00 p.m. when the doors open and throughout the Event. Some snacks will also be at no charge. Child care will be available for an additional fee. Tickets for the event will cost $15.00 and Games begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. Distribution of Prizes and Drawing of the Grand Prize will then commence. Alcohol will be sold at this event so, please remember to bring proper identification. You must be 21 years of age to enter this event. | ||
