The call to proclaim the Word of God is an honor and responsibility. As Proclaimers of the Word, Lectors give human voice to God in the Sacred Scripture, and are enriched through their continued study of Sacred Scripture.
Lectors serve several times a year at the liturgy they normally attend. In addition to proclaiming the Word, Lectors also read the General Intercessions and Parish Announcements.
Requirements: Must be confirmed, practicing Catholics; must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to address the entire parish community; willingness and time to prepare thoroughly; completion of one major training session per calendar year
Training: Periodic training sessions and spiritual formation sessions are held for all lectors Monthly study groups are held ten months of the year. Attendance is expected for at least six of these sessionsOngoing education and support is offered every month.
Time Commitment: Approximately one hour per week with variable frequency; adequate preparation time
