Baptism Guidelines
Baptisms are normally held at 3:30 p.m. in the Church on the first and third Sundays of the month. Arrangements for a baptism at one of our weekend Masses is also possible.
To assist parents in preparing for the baptism of their child, St. Ignatius offers Baptism classes. We ask that parents attend these classes or provide a written statement from the Catholic Church where the classes were taken. If parents have attended classes within the last three years, we do not request that they repeat them.
Instructions to Parents
To register your child for Baptism, the following should be done:
- Complete the registration form for Baptism at the Church Office.
- Provide the child's birth certificate; a copy will be made in the Church Office and the original returned to you.
- There is a $10 registration fee covering class supplies for the parents and godparents.
- If you attend Mass at another parish, a letter of permission, from that parish, to have your child baptized here will be requested.
Godparents
According to Canon Law, the law governing the Catholic Church, a godparent for a Catholic Baptism must be a fully initiated practicing Catholic. Non-Catholics may not serve as godparents for a Catholic Baptism. Read More »
Initiation Sacraments: Baptism
Adult RCIA
- Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Church?
- Are you unbaptized but recognize a need for spirituality in your life?
- Are you baptized Catholic or baptized into another religion but never received any formal religious education?
- Are you married to a Catholic and attend Mass but just don't know what the next step is to become one of the Catholic faithful?
- Are you yearning for something more in your life?
Perhaps the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for you. Every year adults are welcomed into the Catholic Community through the RCIA. It is a learning and loving process in which conversion of the heart brings you to Jesus Christ. The RCIA assists adults in their journey to become knowledgeable and active members of the Catholic Faith Community.
During this personal faith journey we are involved with Scripture, Prayer, Catholic beliefs and practices, and more. This is all experienced in a community setting with a number of Catholic adults who serve as companions and sponsors.
The experience of the RCIA is to assist prospective Catholics in their journey to become an active member of the Catholic Community.
We begin the RCIA in September, with an opportunity for you to have an individual conversation with one of the Team Members.
We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:30pm, and attend Mass together on Sunday at 9:30am.
