2020 has been a difficult year for so many of us and this holiday season is shaping up to be just as challenging. It may seem easy to give in to despair, but our faith in Jesus Christ tells us there is another way: hope.
This Advent season, grow in hope with St. Ignatius' virtual Groups of Hope. Join your fellow St. Ignatius parishioners over Zoom each week of Advent for prayer, faith sharing, and socializing in a small group setting. Each meeting will last about an hour or so and will feature one of the Scriptures from Sunday's Mass. Meet new friends or invite old ones into your group. Let us encounter the God in Scripture and find hope together this Advent. Sign up here or by clicking the button below.
Go to our participants page to download helpful documents, watch the video reflection, and see which scripture passage you'll use each week.
For Groups of Hope, we'll be using a way of praying with Scripture called Lectio Divina, which literally translates into Divine Reading. It’s an ancient meditative prayer that has been practiced by monastics (monks and nuns) for more than a thousand years, even before the widespread availability of written texts. As such, the emphasis is not so much on reading but on listening with great attention to the Wod of God.
