What is Children’s Liturgy of the Word?
Young ones, ages 4 through 9, are invited forward after the Opening Prayer and dismissed to a designated area to worship. The children will then return to Mass during the Offertory to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Parents are welcome to attend, as sometimes kids need to have the comfort of a mom or dad.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” - Matthew 19:14
Times are most Sunday masses during the school year:
No registration fee or form is required. Children are welcome to participate at any time.
What Occurs During Children’s Liturgy of the Word?
The goal of Children’s Liturgy is to introduce children to both the structure of liturgical worship and the experience of worship, so they grow in understanding and love of God. The Gospel readings are presented to the children at an age-appropriate level, along with an interactive message that is relevant to the lives and experiences of young children. As a parent, you can ask your child what they talked about or listened to at children’s liturgy.
